There are moments in Irish history that are monumental, powerful, and evocative. There are also the moments I remember from Leaving Cert history that I find hilarious for no real reason, for example Roger Casement rushing back to Ireland in a German submarine.

It’s International Woman’s Day so I drew Countess Markievicz looking like Han Solo.
Why? Because I can.

I worked my way up it, so the boots are good, the parachute pants passable, and everything else scribbled.

Castle House Island, Dublin Ireland

No it’s really not.
Once a month this picture pops up in my dashboard and the caption (which is steadily becoming more specific) makes me shake my head and sigh.
You go internet, you go.

That caption box in the top left took me by surprise.
Who knew we’d see the day Luke Cage gets beaten up in the middle of the Burren.

A lot of jokes have been made about Michael Wee Higgins’ height since he won the Labour Party nomination. I for one am glad that a man of his political stature is running for President because as the field stands at the moment he’s head and shoulders about the competition. Seriously I’ve about a hundred of these, but the point is; look how short he is. If he wins we’re going to have to move the Áras to Bag End.

"Like a sucker I decided to read the comments on the articles about Obama’s visit here I read today. Besides the obvious stuff like how his ancestry is a scam to cover up being secretly Kenyan, first and formost I learned what it would be like at a Klan rally. When racists call us Micks they like to leave out the K (presumable so they can insert it into klan). The fact Obama says Pakistan properly is somehow bad. Oh and we should have (and I’m quoting) “lynched” him for being pro-choice as we are all militantly Catholic."

Oh Americans.

Isn’t Facebook great?
